Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hails "terrific" Alberto Moreno

Steven Gerrard describes Alberto Moreno's first goal for Liverpool as "pure quality".

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has described Alberto Moreno's first goal for the club as "pure quality" following his summer arrival from Sevilla.

The 22-year-old ran half the length of the field at White Hart Lane before finding the back of the net in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Prior to yesterday's game, Moreno was criticised for making a mistake during his debut, which led to Manchester City's opening goal in the Reds' 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium last Monday.

"Moreno was terrific," the Liverpool Echo quotes Gerrard as saying. "He learned from his mistake in midweek. I'm just glad we got that signing over the line. I'd watched him quite a bit for Sevilla and seen YouTube clips of him.

"I knew he was a flyer – very quick, very aggressive, both with and without the ball. He showed his aggression with the ball with a terrific run and the finish at the end of it was just pure quality."

Liverpool have won two and lost one in the Premier League so far this season.
