How Liverpool could line up against Southampton

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for their upcoming Premier League clash with Southampton as they chase a slice of history at Anfield.

Liverpool will be looking to make a slice of history when they host Southampton at Anfield on Saturday, having already equalled the club record for number of wins at the start of a season.

Tuesday's dramatic late triumph over Paris Saint-Germain maintained the Reds' 100% start to the new campaign as they made it six wins from six, and never in their illustrious 126-year history have they won each of their opening seven competitive games of a season.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be heavy favourites to achieve that feat on home turf this weekend, having only lost one of their last 33 Anfield outings across all competitions.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the hosts could line up for the potentially historic occasion.

Possible LIV XI vs. SOT

Out: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Dejan Lovren (pelvis)
Doubtful: Adam Lallana (groin), Divock Origi (ankle), Dominic Solanke (knock)

Klopp erred on the side of caution in midweek and left Roberto Firmino out of his starting lineup to face PSG following the Brazilian's eye injury against Tottenham Hotspur, but he then came off the bench to score the stoppage-time winner.

Firmino is expected to return to the XI this weekend, then, taking the place of Daniel Sturridge despite the England international also getting on the scoresheet and earning praise from Klopp after the match.

The other change in midweek saw captain Jordan Henderson replace Naby Keita, but Klopp has been protective of Henderson so far this season and the skipper could once again find himself benched this weekend.

Should that be the case and Keita returns to the side then it will be the same starting lineup which beat Spurs last weekend, with consistency the order of the day for Liverpool's team selections so far this season.
