Wolverhampton Wanderers job 'whets Alan Curbishley's appetite'

Alan Curbishley's agent reveals that the vacant job at Wolves is of interest to his client.

Alan Curbishley is ready to return to management and the Wolverhampton Wanderers job 'whets his appetite', according to his agent Phil Smith.

The 54-year-old, who has been away from football since leaving West Ham United in 2008, hinted his interest in the vacancy on Monday, and earlier today it was reported that he was to be interviewed by chairman Steve Morgan.

Smith said: "[Wolves] have said themselves they have invited him to see them.

"I'm not going to go into when [the interview] is going to happen, other than to say it's imminent."

Smith does not believe that his client's three-and-a-half year absence from the game would prove an issue, should he become Mick McCarthy's replacement at Molineux.

He added: "It's of no concern to Alan. His record is second to none.

"He wasn't going to come back to something that didn't whet his appetite.

"He doesn't need to go back, but there does come a time when you want to go back, and Wolves is a big, traditional football club going places."

Smith firmly denied that Curbishley would have any interest in the vacancies at Leeds United and Huddersfield Town.
