Leeds United relieved by non-serious Alex Mowatt injury

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott expresses his "relief" at the fact that Alex Mowatt's knee injury is not serious.

Leeds United boss Brian McDermott has expressed his "relief" at the fact that Alex Mowatt's knee injury is not serious.

The young midfielder was stretchered off the field during the Whites' 3-1 victory at Birmingham City on Saturday, but has escaped serious damage.

"Alex took a blow to his knee and thankfully it's not serious," McDermott told the club website. "We'll keep assessing him, but it's a relief for everyone."

Mowatt has broken into the Leeds first team this season, starting 24 games in the Championship and scoring one goal.
