FC Koln hit with fines and stadium closures

FC Koln are hit with severe fines and partial stadium closures for crowd trouble during games against Borussia Monchengladbach and Duisburg.

Bundesliga side FC Koln have been handed a severe fine and stadium closures for crowd trouble against Borussia Monchengladbach and Duisburg.

The German side will be ordered to pay £142,000 after fans stormed the pitch wearing boiler suits during their game against Monchengladbach last month.

Flares were also thrown onto the pitch after Granit Xhaka scored a stoppage-time winner for Monchengladbach back in February.

Koln will also have to close sections of their stadium for three of their upcoming games throughout April and May, according to Goal.com.

The German Football Association (DFB) also took into account that a number of supporters forced their way into the stadium during a cup tie against Duisburg back in October.

The Bundesliga side have also been ordered to implement new safety measures, which sees them halve their ticket allocation for their next trip to Monchengladbach as well as removing large banners during away games.
