Martin Caceres, Simone Pepe to miss start of season

Martin Caceres and Simone Pepe could both miss the start of the season for Juventus.

Juventus duo Martin Caceres and Simone Pepe are both expected to miss the start of the club's Serie A campaign.

The pair both suffered injuries in Saturday's friendly clash with AC Milan, and a statement on the club's official website confirmed the double blow.

"The Uruguayan was this morning [Monday] given an MRI scan and an orthopaedic examination by Professor Quaglia at the Fornaca clinic in Turin. These tests displayed a first-second degree tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee," the statement read with regard to Caceres.

"The midfielder [Pepe], assessed by Doctor Ganzit at the city's Medicina dello Sport, underwent an ultrasound scan which showed a first degree tear of the semimembranosus muscle in his left thigh."

Juventus secured the Serie A title last season.
