Preview: France vs. Japan
Sports Mole previews the Olympic semi-final between Japan and France at Wembley Stadium.

France face world champions Japan on Monday in the first of the Olympic women's semi-finals at Wembley Stadium.

France secured second spot in Group G – winning twice and losing once – while they recorded a 2-1 win over Sweden to advance to this stage.

The French have never reached this stage of Olympic competition before, although they finished fourth in last year's women's World Cup.

Meanwhile, Japan finished second in Group F behind Sweden, but they saw off the much-fancied Brazilians in the quarter-finals to advance to the semis.

They finished fourth in the Olympics in 2008, while they are also the current world champions, having lifted the trophy last year.

Both sides have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match, although Japan boss Norio Sasaki could freshen up his midfield.

Possible lineups:

Japan: Fukumoto; Kinga, Iwashimizu, Kumagai, Sameshima; Sakaguchi, Miyama, Kawasumi, Sawa; Ohno, Ogimi

France: Bouhaddi; Renard, Georges, Franco, Bompastor; Necib, Bussaglia, Soubeyrand; Delie, Thomis, Thiney

Sports Mole says: 2-1
