Hull City fans to try to "influence" FA to reject Hull Tigers name change

Hull City protest group City Till We Die insist that they will try to "influence" the FA into rejecting the owner's request to change the name of the club to Hull Tigers.

Hull City protest group City Till We Die have insisted that they will try to "influence" the Football Association to reject the chairman's proposal of changing the name of the club to Hull Tigers.

Owner Assem Allam formally requested the name change by sending a letter to the FA Council this week, despite a number of supporters criticising the move, stating that it damages the tradition of the Premier League outfit.

"Sadly, there was an inevitability that Hull would do this, because it's clear the club are adamant about pressing on with the name change," the Yorkshire Post quotes City Till We Die spokesperson Andy Dalton as saying.

"From the fans' point of view, there is very definitely a sense of disappointment because it is equally clear that they are not listening to us and our views on the subject. Now it is all down to the FA to make a decision and Hull City fans will make their feelings known to the FA in no uncertain terms.

"We will let them know that we all do oppose what the chairman wants to do. We can certainly speak with the FA and try everything we can to influence their decision."

The club, which has already changed its company name to Hull City Tigers, could be rebranded for the 2014-15 season.
