Hearts grab 1-0 win over Hibernian

Hearts edge past Hibernian with a 1-0 victory in the Scottish League Cup this evening.

Hearts have edged past rivals Hibernian 1-0 in the Scottish League Cup this evening, with Ryan Stevenson's first-half goal enough to separate the two sides.

Hibs had a great chance in the 15th minute of the game when Scott Robertson unleashed a right-footed shot from the centre of the box, but his effort was neatly saved.

Hearts then made the hosts pay as Stevenson crashed in a right-footed shot from outside the box, which nestled in the top corner.

Hibs piled on the pressure early in the second half as both James Collins and Rowan Vine tried shots from distance, which both came close to equaling proceedings.

The hosts missed another good opportunity in the 72nd minute through Liam Craig, whose header should have found the net but found the safe hands of the Hearts goalkeeper instead.

Hibernian's frustrations began to show and they were reduced to 10 men in the 84th minute as James McPake was sent off, leaving the final score at 1-0.
