Leighton Baines satisfied with clean sheet

Leighton Baines hopes that Everton's clean sheet in their 3-0 victory over Aston Villa will be the first of many following their shaky start to the season defensively.

Leighton Baines has admitted his relief at earning a clean sheet in Everton's 3-0 win over Aston Villa yesterday.

Baines provided assists for Phil Jagielka and Seamus Coleman, but the left-back has said that Everton's second shutout in the Premier League this season was just as satisfying as any of the goals scored.

"We have conceded some strange goals this season and I am not sure, if you look at it, we have given up many more chances than we would usually, but for some reason we have been conceding," Baines is quoted as saying by the Belfast Telegraph.

"You go away and look at all the stats and analyse things and it is just fine margins in football.

"It was nice to get back to normal and keeping a clean sheet is something we will look to replicate in the next few games."

The victory lifted the Toffees up to 12th in the Premier League table.
