Roy Hodgson admits that he will be devastated if England fail to qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

Roy Hodgson has insisted that he will be devastated if England miss out on qualification for next summer's World Cup.

The Three Lions will face Scotland in August, before crucial qualifying games against Moldova and Ukraine in September.

After a 2-2 draw in Brazil last week, the England boss is optimistic about the nation's chances.

"When I was given this job, the focus from the very first moment, has been Brazil 2014," Hodgson told the Daily Star. "We will be devastated if we don't get there.

"We've got four matches to do it and the good thing is that we know we are hard to beat and we have a good shape to our team. In our good moments we actually pass the ball quite well and do some good things going forward.

"We are going to build on that, and I don't think the result and performance in Brazil will have done the player's confidence any harm."

England are currently two points behind Group H leaders Montenegro, with a game in hand.
