Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reveals that he is open to joining Wayne Rooney and Derby County in January, after being released by Bournemouth in the summer.

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he would be open to a move to Derby County in January, as he continues his search for a new club.

The 29-year-old spent last season in the Championship with Bournemouth, but he has been a free agent since the summer after being released by the Cherries.

Wilshere has been keeping himself fit by training with Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side, but he wants to return to the pitch and joining former England teammate Wayne Rooney at Pride Park is a possibility.

The midfielder told talkSPORT: "I did speak to Wazza (Rooney) actually, in the summer. It was when Derby were under that embargo where they couldn't buy anyone. And I went to Como as well, instead. And I thought about it, but it weren't for me.

"I don't know, it depends what comes up in January. I played in the Championship last year and I did actually enjoy it. It's a tough league. I don't think it suited my style of play."

Wilshere made 17 appearances for Bournemouth across all competitions last season, scoring twice and providing one assist for the Cherries.
