A number of recent Chelsea signings allegedly regret signing long-term contracts at Stamford Bridge.

A number of Chelsea's recent signings have allegedly been left unconvinced about the project which has been started at Stamford Bridge.

Since completing a takeover at the end of May, a consortium led by Todd Boehly has attempted to instigate wholesale changes at the Premier League club.

However, the Blues have instead endured one of their worst seasons in recent memory, sitting in 11th position in the Premier League standings and missing out on European qualification for next season.

Although the expected appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as head coach would bring some stability, the majority of the first-team squad face uncertainty over their futures.

That is despite as many as 14 players possessing contracts until at least 2027, the preference of the new owners being to hand out a minimum of six-year deals.

Players penning longer terms was supposed to bring the aforementioned stability, but it appears that several newcomers to Stamford Bridge are feeling the opposite.

According to The Athletic, numerous signings have been left significantly underwhelmed about the part that they have played during 2022-23.

The report claims that Chelsea's powers-that-be sold the vision that they would become integral parts of their future, something which has not been matched by their game time.

Due to the size of the senior squad being in excess of 30 players, there is said to 'an unwanted atmosphere' behind the scenes due to the amount of players that are missing out on a regular basis.

Caretaker manager Frank Lampard has recently insisted that no member of the squad will be gifted game time, despite focus arguably needing to switch to new players gaining further Premier League experience.

While no players have been specifically mentioned, none of Chelsea's signings since last summer have made more than 21 starts in the Premier League, that being Marc Cucurella who has benefitted from an injury to Ben Chilwell.

Of the January arrivals, Enzo Fernandez and Benoit Badiashile have earned regular action, but £88m winger Mykhaylo Mudryk is among the players to play fewer than 500 minutes in the top flight.

Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka - a summer arrival - have played just 227 and 224 minutes respectively, while David Datro Fofana has not featured since a lively first-half showing versus Southampton on February 18.
