West Ham United boss David Moyes refuses to rule out the prospect of making further signings before Thursday's transfer deadline following the club-record addition of Lucas Paqueta.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has refused to ruled out the prospect of making further signings before the transfer windows shuts on Thursday.

The Hammers completed the club-record signing of attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta from Lyon on Monday for a fee which could rise to around £51m.

Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer and Emerson Palmieri have also moved to the London Stadium on permanent deals, taking West Ham's spending beyond £170m.

However, Moyes has suggested that there could be both incomings and outgoings before the 11pm deadline on September 1.

West Ham are still in talks with Belgian outfit Club Brugge over a deal to sign midfielder Hans Vanaken, while they are also believed to be keeping a close eye on Chelsea's Conor Gallagher and Atalanta BC's Ruslan Malinovskyi.

Meanwhile, centre-back Craig Dawson has recently been linked with Premier League duo Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Sky Sports News claiming that the 32-year-old wants to move back to the Midlands.

When questioned by reporters on Tuesday about whether Dawson would be allowed to leave this summer, Moyes said: "Ideally we wouldn't, but it's probably a much more complicated situation."

The Scotsman added: "I wouldn't completely say no (to more transfer business), but in the same breath it could be yes because there are one or two things we need to look at.

"There might be some people coming in and there might be some people going out."

Moyes has also spoken highly about new arrival Paqueta and has thanked the club's hierarchy for recruiting a player that he did not expect to be available in this summer's window.

"I'm really pleased (to have signed Paqueta). We've been watching him for a long time and he really came to our attention when he played against us for Lyon and he was the standout player.

"We looked a lot deeper and we didn't think he would be available, so it's a big thank you to the board for making it happen.

"He can play two or three positions and it all made sense if we could get him – and it's never easy to get big players."

When asked whether the arrival of Paqueta and fellow new recruit Scamacca will see a change in style at the London Stadium, Moyes added: "As a manager you have to mould to the players you have got.

"[Michail] Antonio has done an unbelievable job at centre-forward for us and Scamacca will be a different type of centre forward. Paqueta will be a different player to Jesse Lingard who played No.10 for us, and Said Benrahma offers something else too.

"We've got flexibility, and we've started to bring in a better quality of player too – Italian internationals, Germany internationals. The proof is in the pudding, but I think we have raised the quality."

Moyes has also suggested that Paqueta, who recorded 11 goals and seven assists in 44 games for Lyon last season, is unlikely to make his debut in Wednesday's London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

"He's not trained with us yet, we've only got the paperwork done last night and we're waiting on him arriving as he's had to get his visa etcetera today," the Hammers boss added. "But look, he's signed and that's the important thing. He will be a big player for us."

After losing their opening three Premier League matches of the new season, West Ham opened their account away at Aston Villa last weekend, with a goal from Pablo Fornals enough to secure a 1-0 win at Villa Park.
