Chelsea could bring a new central defender to the club during this summer's transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up the possibility of bringing a new central defender to the club during this summer's transfer window.

The Blues, who beat Manchester City 1-0 to win the 2021 Champions League final on Saturday night, are said to be planning on signing a new centre-forward in the upcoming market.

However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Thomas Tuchel's side are also keen to sign a new centre-back and are currently 'looking for some opportunities on the market'.

Thiago Silva is set to pen a new one-year deal at Stamford Bridge, but Fikayo Tomori could be leaving the club to join AC Milan on a permanent deal.

Real Madrid's Raphael Varane has been linked with a move to Chelsea, as the France international seemingly prepares to seek pastures new after Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, the European Cup holders are also thought to be keen on Niklas Sule, who could potentially be allowed to leave Bayern Munich during this summer's transfer window.
