Jose Mourinho: 'Losing heavily at West Bromwich Albion not a big surprise'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that his side lost 3-0 away at West Bromwich Albion because the Blues players have already secured the Premier League title.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Chelsea's 3-0 defeat away at West Bromwich Albion is not a "big surprise" given that the Blues have already won the Premier League title.

The hosts took the lead through Saido Berahino, but the Blues soon went on to dominate proceedings on the pitch until the half-hour mark, when Cesc Fabregas was sent off for kicking the ball at Chris Brunt.

Berahino bagged himself a second goal after the restart before Brunt got his own back on Chelsea by killing the game off with a third unanswered strike on the hour.

Mourinho told Sky Sports News after the game: "I cannot say it's a big surprise for me. I know the nature of the game, I know what normally happens when a team is champions with games in hand.

"It's difficult to keep the motivation high. We have lots of injuries, the intensity is not so high, and when you lose that salt and pepper of competition, it's difficult to compete.

"But I cannot blame the players without blaming myself because it was my mentality also. If we have to blame somebody we blame Manchester City, United and Arsenal, because they let us win so easily."

Chelsea will be able to celebrate the title in front of their own fans when they host relegation-threatened Sunderland in their final game of the season on May 24.
