Alvaro Morata: 'Chelsea have many attacking options'

Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata suggests that there is a friendly rivalry with teammate Olivier Giroud, with both men contributing in the final third in recent games.

Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has suggested that a friendly rivalry with Olivier Giroud can only be positive for the Blues.

In recent games, head coach Antonio Conte has switched between using either of the pair as a lone striker and the duo featuring in the same attack as a two.

Giroud will likely get the nod against Swansea City on Saturday evening, but Morata has indicated that he accepts that Conte has a number of options to choose from in his squad.

The 25-year-old told the club's official website: "Olivier is stronger than me so he is able to keep and protect the ball, then I can play.

"Against Burnley, I think we played a good game together but we need to keep on working. If the coach wants to use it we have that system, or else we can play with one striker, but we are friends and we fight for the team's benefit which is the most important thing.

"The coach has a lot of players to choose from. I've played in teams with two up front, with one striker and even without any. It's not like the old days when teams always played with two strikers. Some teams play with no striker, and they do well with it, but it depends on the manager. We have many options which is good for the team."

Morata has scored just 11 goals in 28 Premier League appearances this season.
