West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic: 'Chelsea were much better than us'

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic admits that Chelsea were "much better" than them in tonight's Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has admitted that Chelsea played "much better" than his side in tonight's Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard put the Blues ahead from the penalty spot following a dominant display, but James Collins found a lifeline for the Hammers in the 77th minute.

The visitors could not hold on to a point, though, as Diego Costa scored the winner with one minute of normal time remaining.

"When you lose a game and concede late, of course you are disappointed," Bilic told Sky Sports News. "Apart from the first 15 minutes til we equalised, they were much better than us. They were better on the ball, in pressing and much more aggressive than us. They had the individual class of Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Willian.

"We came back into the game, we played well after 1-1 but we made the mistake in the middle of the park. We gave the ball away and conceded a cheap goal."

Meanwhile, club-record signing Andre Ayew will discover the extent of a thigh injury when he undergoes a scan tomorrow.
