Loic Remy returns to Chelsea after picking up thigh injury

Loic Remy returns to parent club Chelsea for treatment on an injury picked up in training, which is expected to keep him out for up to two months.

Crystal Palace striker Loic Remy has returned to parent club Chelsea to receive treatment on his injured thigh.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew confirmed on Thursday that the Frenchman is expected to spend time on the sidelines after pulling up in training.

Widespread reports suggest that Remy will miss the next two months as he recovers from his latest setback, having been restricted to just three starts for the Blues last season due to similar issues with his thigh.

Pardew told reporters this afternoon that it was still too early to predict how long the 29-year-old will miss, but a Palace statement has now confirmed that Remy has returned to Chelsea for treatment before even kicking a ball for the club.

"The club's medical team are liaising with their counterparts at Chelsea to monitor his progress," the statement added.

The Eagles also brought in Christian Benteke on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window, with the Belgian in line to start against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
