Home Office orders Cardiff's head of recruitment to stand down over visa issues

Cardiff City's head of recruitment Alisher Apsalyamov is ordered to stand down by the Home Office while they investigate his visa.

The Home Office have reportedly ordered Cardiff City's head of recruitment Alisher Apsalyamov to stand down while they investigate his visa.

The 23-year-old was appointed to the role following the controversial sacking of Iain Moody, who was a close aide of Bluebirds manager Malky Mackay.

Despite reportedly having no previous experience working within football, Apsalyamov, who is a friend of club owner Vincent Tan's son, was handed the position earlier this month.

However, it has now emerged that Apsalyamov has stepped down from his role for the time being while immigration officials investigate the validity of his visa, according to Sky Sports News.

Mackay is said to have been unhappy at the club's decision to part company with Moody, but rejected reports that he was going to quit his position as manager as a result.
