Brentford postpone Birmingham City clash

The poor state of the Griffin Park pitch forces Brentford to cancel their home Championship encounter against Birmingham City next week.

Brentford have confirmed that their Championship clash against Birmingham City later this month has been postponed.

The encounter, which was supposed to be played on August 18, has been pushed back due to the state of the Griffin Park pitch.

"With the match next Tuesday now postponed, we will not have a match at Griffin Park until we play Reading on Saturday, August 29. This will give us a clear window to relay the pitch," chief executive Mike Devlin told the club's official website.

"Over the past few weeks we have been working hard on the pitch. We have now decided it is best to relay it. We can use the next two weeks to replace the current pitch before the Reading match."

The Blues will now make the trip to West London on Tuesday, September 29.
