Simon Francis: 'Bournemouth will learn from Manchester United defeat'

Bournemouth skipper Simon Francis is keen to focus on the positives following his side's 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Dean Court.

Simon Francis has insisted that Bournemouth are only interested in taking the positives away from their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The Cherries put up a good fight in the first half as they restricted their opponents, before a Francis mistake - and an unfortunate rebound - allowed Juan Mata to edge United ahead.

Bournemouth went on to lose fairly resoundingly following a largely one-sided second period at Dean Court, but the club captain is now hoping to learn lessons from the setback as the south coast side aim to match last season's achievement in staying up.

"We had some good play, especially in the first half," he told the Cherries' official website. "We dominated up until the goal and in the second half we created some good chances. On another day they might go our way.

"Towards the end, we had a couple of good corners in succession too. It's something to learn from. Obviously we take the positives, as we do with every game.

"We'll look at the negatives as well with where the goal came from and how to eradicate that for next week. It's still early on in the season and we've just got to try show the character that we did at times last season to bounce back from this."

Bournemouth are back in action next Sunday with a trip to face West Ham United in the first league game to be staged at the Hammers' new Olympic Stadium home.
