Sylvain Distin: Bournemouth's 'spin the wheel' more daunting than Man City

Sylvain Distin reveals that he is more daunted by Bournemouth's 'spin the wheel' disciplinary system than by facing Manchester City on Saturday.

Bournemouth defender Sylvain Distin has admitted that facing an embarrassing challenge as part of the club's disciplinary system is more daunting than going up against today's Premier League opponents Manchester City.

The Frenchman, who signed for the Cherries from Everton in the summer, has given an insight into the club's team-bonding exercise 'spin the wheel'.

Any player who breaks club rules, by turning up late to training for example, is required to carry out a forfeit, and said punishment is chosen depending on what the marker lands on when spun by the footballer.

"When I start thinking about it, I start sweating!" Distin told reporters. "It's fun but it's a challenge as a footballer you rarely face. You have to dance in front of your teammates, do magic tricks - I'm not going to name them all because there are hundreds! It's good team spirit."

When asked if 'spin the wheel' is more daunting than facing City, Distin said: "It is actually! You have to remain professional and if you've done something that is not seen as professional, then you have to spin.

"We've got a system where if you see something that should be reported, you just take a picture and send it in. We don't know who takes the pictures, there are one or two [I suspect are taking them], but I won't tell you!"

Manager Eddie Howe has revealed that a player can either accept a monetary fine or spin the wheel when they break the rules.
