Bolton Wanderers close to Neil Lennon appointment?

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon is reportedly closing in on being named the new manager of Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

Bolton Wanderers are reportedly on the verge of confirming the appointment of Neil Lennon as the club's new manager.

The Trotters, who are bottom of the Championship after 11 matches, have been without a boss since Dougie Freedman was sacked earlier this month.

The likes of Steve Clarke, Chris Hughton, Phil Brown and Paolo di Canio have all been linked with the Macron Stadium vacancy, but the Wanderers board have decided that Lennon is the right man to guide the club to survival, according to The Guardian.

Lennon, 43, has been out of work since May when he stepped down as manager of Celtic, whom he guided to three Scottish Premier League titles in a row.

He had recently been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, while Fulham are also thought to have held discussions with the Northern Irishman over their vacancy.
