Gary Madine joins Blackpool on loan from Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine leaves Hillsborough to join rockbottom Blackpool on loan for the remainder of 2014-15.

Struggling Blackpool have signed Gary Madine on loan from fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old has made just one league start for Wednesday this season, but scored four goals in two separate loan spells at League One side Coventry City earlier this term.

"As soon as I got the phone call and I heard [Blackpool manager] Lee Clark was interested, I couldn't say no really to my chance to play in the Championship again," Madine told the Tangerines' website.

"I've been out on loan in League One and as every professional footballer will say, you play at the highest level you can."

Madine also only played once for Wednesday last season after he was found guilty of assault and sentenced to 18 months in jail.

He could make his Blackpool debut in tonight's home game against high-flying Middlesbrough.
