Jose Riga: 'Blackpool deserved win against Cardiff City'

Blackpool manager Jose Riga says that he is "very proud" of his players following their 1-0 win over Cardiff City.

Blackpool manager Jose Riga has said that his side deserved to beat Cardiff City in their Championship match this evening.

The Seasiders claimed their first victory in the Championship this season, with Francois Zoke's goal giving them a 1-0 win at Bloomfield Road.

"We were waiting and it was important to get this win at home," he told Sky Sports News. "It was an amazing atmosphere and we deserved it. We had many opportunities in the first half, Cardiff controlled the second half a little more but without creating so many opportunities, and we had the best of the second half.

"The way we did, with our situation, the injuries, our mentality and behaviour is amazing. Maybe we are not the best players but we have to be the best team, in terms of commitment and collaboration. I am very proud.

"I want to give everything to this club. I still feel good in Blackpool and am very happy for the club and staff, and of course for the fans. We worked hard for this."

Blackpool are currently 23rd in the Championship table.
