Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston denies FA charge in relation to text message

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston denies a charge of misconduct by the FA in relation to a text message exchange with a supporter.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has denied a charge of misconduct by the Football Association in relation to a text message involving a supporter.

The under-fire businessman was charged last month after allegedly using "abusive and/or insulting words" towards a fan.

Oyston apologised in December for the text exchange, in which he allegedly branded the supporter a "retard".

A statement from the FA read: "It is alleged that the misconduct constituted five breaches of FA rules, and that during the text message exchange, Mr Oyston used abusive and/or insulting words towards a supporter of Blackpool FC.

"It is further alleged that each of these five breaches of FA Rule E3(1) is an 'Aggravated Breach' as defined in Rule E3(2), as each included a reference to disability."

The FA is yet to state what the outcome will be for the chairman, whose side were relegated to League One on April 6.
