Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski will not be able to link up with the Poland squad for their World Cup qualifier with England on March 31 due to quarantine measures.

Bayern Munich have affirmed that Robert Lewandowski will not be able to join up with the Poland squad for their game with England on March 31.

With the coronavirus pandemic still raging across Europe, and infection rates rising in several nations, Bundesliga players would be forced to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival back in Germany from a "mutation zone" country.

Lewandowski would be due to play and captain Poland in their World Cup qualifier against England at the end of this month, but sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that the 32-year-old cannot travel to the UK due to quarantine measures.

Speaking to German outlet Sport-Informations-Dienst, Salihamidzic said: "If it remains the case that the returnees from England have to go into quarantine, we will not be able to put Lewandowski down."

Despite being forced to miss out the trip to England, Poland will be able to call upon Lewandowski for their fixtures with Andorra and Hungary during the international break.

The former Borussia Dortmund man has amassed 39 goals from 35 appearances in all competitions during a remarkable campaign with Bayern.
