Arturo Vidal: 'Pep Guardiola did not tell us he was leaving Bayern Munich'

Arturo Vidal admits that he and his Bayern Munich teammates only learned about Pep Guardiola's departure on television.

Arturo Vidal has revealed that Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola did not inform the players about his departure prior to his public announcement.

The Spanish coach will leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season to take charge at Manchester City, where he will replace outgoing boss Manuel Pellegrini.

A few months ago, Guardiola publicly announced that he would not be signing a new deal at Bayern because of his desire to coach in the Premier League, but it has been revealed by Vidal that the players had no idea at the time.

"It was strange and we only learned about it by watching TV," Vidal told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "Either way, after him we'll have an excellent coach in Carlo Ancelotti. For now we want to win everything so Pep can leave happy."

Bayern currently have an eight-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table and remain in contention for the Champions League crown.
