Barcelona 'step up attempts to offload Ivan Rakitic'

Barcelona are reportedly ready to step up their efforts to sell midfielder Ivan Rakitic before the end of the summer transfer window.

Barcelona are reportedly prepared to step up their efforts to sell midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

While the Croatia international and manager Ernesto Valverde have previously hinted at another year at Camp Nou, Barca view selling the 31-year-old as a method of raising transfer funds.

Having only named Rakitic on the substitutes' bench for the club's opening two La Liga fixtures, Valverde has allegedly had a change of heart and given the green light to a sale.

According to AS, Barca will now accelerate their attempts to cash in on the player before the end of the summer transfer window.

Juventus have recently been linked with an approach, while Paris Saint-Germain is another potential destination given the ongoing discussions regarding a potential reunion with Neymar.

Rakitic still has just under two years remaining on his contract.
