Diego Simeone "glad" to see Villarreal back in La Liga

Diego Simeone says that he is happy to see Villarreal back in La Liga.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has said that he is glad to see Villarreal back in La Liga after their relegation in 2012.

The Yellow Submarine spent just one year outside the top flight, with a second-placed finish in the Segunda Division ensuring their return at the first attempt.

Simeone takes his team, currently second in the table, to El Madrigal this evening.

"I'm glad they're back in the first division," the Argentine told reporters. "They are a club I've followed a lot in the last decade.

"They have done well and despite having a bad season, they have recovered fast. It speaks highly of the leaders."

Villarreal are flying high in fourth place.
