Libor Kozak: 'Win more important than debut goal'

Aston Villa striker Libor Kozak insists that earning all three points against Norwich City was far more important than scoring a winning goal on his debut.

Aston Villa striker Libor Kozak has insisted that earning three points at Norwich City last weekend was far more important to him than scoring the winning goal on his debut.

Kozak came on for the injured Christian Benteke after 28 minutes at Carrow Road and broke the deadlock soon after, guiding home Gabriel Agbonlahor's cross from close range.

The Czech international believes that halting a slide of three successive defeats was vital for Villa and hailed the heroics of goalkeeper Brad Guzan as he kept a clean sheet.

He told Sky Sports News: "I am happy. I scored in my second game at Aston Villa, we won the game so that is the most important.

"First touch I can score it, but the goalkeeper saved. After Gabby's great assist it was easy for me to score. We played together as a team, all of the players helped me when I entered the pitch.

"It was great that we won the game because it's not easy. It is very positive and Brad was a magic man, he saved the game."

Villa boss Paul Lambert is still waiting for news on Benteke's hip injury, which means that Kozak looks likely to get his first start against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup tomorrow night.
