Arsene Wenger: 'Arsenal tried to sign Kingsley Coman'

Arsene Wenger says that French midfielder Kingsley Coman rejected Arsenal in order to complete a move to Juventus.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that the club tried to sign midfielder Kingsley Coman from Paris Saint-Germain last season.

The 19-year-old was close to joining the Gunners, but instead he moved to Serie A giants Juventus and helped the club to a fourth straight league title.

He is now on a two-year loan spell at German champions Bayern Munich, having made the switch to Bavaria in August, and has enjoyed a promising start to his career at the club.

"Yes we really tried to sign Kingsley Coman in the summer of 2014," Wenger told beIN Sports.

"The transfer was almost completed, but he preferred Juventus."

Coman made his debut for France in their recent victory over Germany.
