Arsenal weighing up bids for Omer Toprak, Simon Kjaer?

Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer, of Bayer Leverkusen and Fenerbahce respectively, are both reportedly targets for Arsenal as their search for a new defender goes on.

Arsenal are considering an approach for Bayer Leverkusen's Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer of Fenerbahce, according to a report.

The Gunners are in desperate search of a new centre-back after losing Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to injury in recent weeks.

With Laurent Koscielny still battling to reach peak fitness following his extended summer break, Arsenal were left to field Rob Holding and Calum Chambers in the heart of defence for the visit of Liverpool.

A 4-3 defeat only made matters worse for boss Arsene Wenger, who Sky Sports News reports has picked out two new targets to fill the void at the back.

Toprak and Kjaer, both heavily linked with moves to the Premier League in the past, are said to be at the top of Wenger's wishlist should a move for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi fall through.

However, it is claimed that Mustafi has agreed to join Arsenal and could be brought in prior to next week's visit to the King Power Stadium where the Gunners face champions Leicester City.
