Arsenal and Aston Villa are reportedly set to battle it out for Roma forward Tammy Abraham in the January transfer window.

Arsenal are reportedly set to rival Aston Villa for the signature of Roma striker Tammy Abraham.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a successful first season in Italy last term, scoring 27 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions.

However, Abraham has only managed to score four goals in 20 games this season, and as a result of his poor form, he missed out on a place in the England World Cup squad.

His poor start to the campaign has reportedly led to Roma considering the possibility of a sale after previously viewing the player as untouchable.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal and Aston Villa are both keen to bring the former Chelsea player back to the Premier League.

Premier League leaders Arsenal believe that a move for Abraham in the January transfer window could strengthen their title push, while Aston Villa want the striker to return to the club after previously scoring 25 goals in 37 games during a loan spell in the 2018-19 season.

Chelsea have the option of signing Abraham after negotiating a €75m (£64.2m) buyback clause as part of the deal which saw him join Roma, but there is no suggestion that the Blues are looking to bring the England international back to Stamford Bridge.
