Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer emerges as a transfer target for Arsenal, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer this summer.

The 28-year-old has made 29 appearances for the German champions during the 2021-22 campaign but has only contributed one goal, while he was an unused substitute for both legs of their recent Champions League quarter-final with Villarreal.

Sabitzer still has more than three years left to run on his contract at Allianz Arena, but according to Bild, he will be allowed to leave Bayern during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Arsenal are showing an interest in the Austria international, but the Gunners could face competition from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.

Sabitzer, who arrived at Allianz Arena from RB Leipzig last August, has only started seven Bundesliga games during the 2021-22 campaign.

Arsenal are also believed to be in the hunt for RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku, with the club allegedly preparing to battle Manchester United, AC Milan and Inter Milan for his signature.

The Gunners moved level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table courtesy of their 4-2 win at Chelsea on Wednesday night.
