Roberto Martinez confident of defying odds at Arsenal

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez believes that his side have enough quality to beat Arsenal tonight and keep their fight for survival alive.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that his side are capable of keeping their survival hopes alive with a victory at Arsenal tonight.

The Latics must take maximum points from their final two matches to beat the drop, starting with success at the Emirates Stadium against Arsene Wenger's side.

Martinez believes that Wigan can ride the wave of optimism provided by their FA Cup triumph to defeat Arsenal this evening.

He told The Sun: "Mentally we are in a good place after beating one of the top teams in Europe.

"But it's true everything suggests we don't have enough time to recover and go to the Emirates to get the points.

"But we've done it before and have the vision of our 2-1 win at the Emirates last year fixed in our minds. We're excited about trying to do our own double."

Wigan sit 18th in the Premier League, four points adrift of Sunderland as the relegation battle draws to a close.
