Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger affirms that the Gunners are in a "good shape" despite boasting zero points from their first three Premier League games.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the club are still in a "good shape" despite their abysmal start to the Premier League season.

The Gunners boast zero points and zero goals from their opening three games of the league campaign against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City, although they did ease to a 6-0 EFL Cup win over West Bromwich Albion.

Mikel Arteta's team spent more than any other Premier League side in the summer transfer window, though, and Wenger has tried to put a positive spin on the club's situation.

Speaking to BILD Live, the Frenchman said: "I'm 71. I've given this club the best years of my life. Today the club is in good shape. They had two tough games, the team has potential and I hope they can come back. At the moment I'm just a fan."

Wenger stepped down from his role at Arsenal in the summer of 2018 following 22 years at the club, during which he won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.

Arteta has already scooped one FA Cup during his short-lived reign at the helm, and his side will take on fellow bottom-two side Norwich City at home following the international break.
