Jose Mourinho: 'Cesc Fabregas didn't want Arsenal return'

Jose Mourinho says that Cesc Fabregas was not interested in returning to Arsenal this summer.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Cesc Fabregas was never interested in rejoining Arsenal.

The 27-year-old completed his move to the Blues last month following three years at Barcelona.

He had been linked with a return to Arsenal, but the Gunners did not take up their first option to bring back their former captain.

"I spoke with him 20 minutes. I think he really wanted to come to us," The Mirror quotes Mourinho as saying.

"As you know Arsenal had an option to interfere. But I think he was not open for that, I think he was very much in our direction so it was an easy job for me."

Fabregas made over 300 appearances for Arsenal during his eight years with the club.
