Arsene Wenger: 'Alexis Sanchez could return against Manchester City'

Arsene Wenger reveals that Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez could make an earlier-than-expected return from injury to face Manchester City on Monday night.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that star forward Alexis Sanchez could return from injury in Monday night's Premier League clash against Manchester City.

The Chilean has missed the Gunners' last three matches with a hamstring strain since pulling up in the 1-1 draw at Norwich City last month.

It was initially expected that Sanchez would miss around a month's worth of action, and a return on Monday night would be a week or so premature.

In his pre-match press conference this morning, Wenger told reporters: "A slight chance for Sanchez to [play against City], but it is too early to say. He is running."

Despite Sanchez, among several others, being injured, Arsenal have won three games in a row to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League and keep pace with surprise leaders Leicester City domestically.
