Jack Wilshere: 'Paul Gascoigne film inspired me'

Jack Wilshere reveals that the new Gazza documentary inspired the Arsenal midfielder into producing a match-winning performance for England.

Jack Wilshere has revealed that watching a Paul Gascoigne documentary inspired the midfielder into producing a match-winning performance for England against Slovenia.

The 23-year-old scored two goals in Sunday's 3-2 win to maintain the Three Lions' perfect start to Euro 2016 qualification.

The Arsenal player admitted that watching new film Gazza before the match gave him the confidence to go on and break his England duck in front of goal.

The Daily Star quotes Wilshere as saying: "I watched it on the plane and yeah it did inspire me. You could tell by the way he played for England that he didn't feel any fear. He was over that.

"Sometimes when they play for their country I think players feel a little bit of fear and a bit of pressure. He just wanted to go out there. He said he felt at his best when he was playing, with the ball at his feet.

"He did it and he was England's best player. So, it's worth a try."

Gascoigne scored 10 goals in 57 appearances for England.
