AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy hopes that teammate Alexandre Pato will return to action soon.

The Brazilian striker has not made a competitive appearance for the Rossoneri this season because of injury, but is expected to recover full fitness in the coming weeks.

"I hope Pato gets back soon, he's potentially one of the best players in the world," El Shaarawy told Milan Channel.

"He's the present and the future of the team and I hope he gets back soon."

Pato joined Milan from Brazilian club Internacional in the summer of 2007.
