Michael van Gerwen aiming to maintain unbeaten run

World number one Michael van Gerwen reveals that he is motivated to improve on his nine-match unbeaten run in this year's Premier League.

Michael van Gerwen believes that he is capable of winning this year's Premier League without losing a match.

The world number one has won seven and drawn twice during his first nine matches, and ahead of his fixture with Stephen Bunting in Sheffield, the Dutchman has revealed that he is motivated to continue his unbeaten throughout the remainder of the second phase.

The 25-year-old told PDC.tv: "I've been unbeaten for the first half of the season so I don't see why I can't be unbeaten for the second half too. I'm loving my darts at the moment and I want to keep winning but I have to keep working hard.

"I'm looking forward to playing every game, no matter who I play. The pressure is off Stephen a bit now so he will want to play well and it will be a good game on Thursday."

Van Gerwen prepared for his match with Bunting by winning the German Darts Masters in Munich on Monday.
