Jonathan Trott: 'Joe Root made it look easy'

Jonathan Trott claims that Joe Root made it look easy on the way to scoring an unbeaten 118 for England in the second Test against the West Indies in Grenada.

Jonathan Trott has claimed that his England teammate Joe Root made it look easy on the way to scoring his sixth Test century in Grenada.

Root struck an unbeaten 118 as the tourists took control on day three of the second Test against the West Indies, and the 24-year-old's efforts were enough to encourage praise from Trott.

"Almost 300 runs in the day is a pretty good effort and Joe's gone on and got a big hundred to put us in a really good position," England's opener, who scored 59 earlier in the day, told reporters.

"He was probably a bit frustrated watching Alastair and I cloth it everywhere and not hit boundaries. He came in and showed the guys how.

"I don't think cricket is ever easy but he certainly makes it look relatively easy. He's mature beyond his years and a fine player to have in the dressing room."

England will resume on 373-6 on day four, 74 runs ahead of the hosts.
