England's James Taylor in the dark over Peter Moores sack rumours

England stand-in captain James Taylor says that he has no knowledge about rumours suggesting that head coach Peter Moores will be sacked.

England stand-in captain James Taylor has insisted that he is completely in the dark regarding rumours that head coach Peter Moores is on the brink of dismissal.

Recent reports have suggested that Moores will be sacked by the England and Wales Cricket Board next week, just 13 months after returning to the fold.

England have been criticised of late following the one-day side's poor World Cup campaign, as well as their failure to win their recent Test series against the West Indies.

When asked by BBC Test Match Special about the rumours regarding Moores, Taylor said: "I haven't heard anything on that.

"I haven't heard any echoes of that being the case, the guys are firmly behind that and I know in my brief time with England in the last six months he's been really good with me, really positive, so I haven't heard anything like that. Nobody in the changing room uttered any word of it."

Meanwhile, former England captain Andrew Strauss is the favourite to be named the ECB's new director of cricket.
