Kevin Pietersen 'won't earn England recall'

England director of cricket Andrew Strauss reportedly tells Kevin Pietersen he will not play international cricket again.

Kevin Pietersen has reportedly been told that he will not be recalled by England, despite hitting his maiden triple hundred in a county match for Surrey.

The 34-year-old scored 326 not out at The Oval against Leicestershire, and there was speculation that the South African-born batsman would earn an international reprieve after news broke of a meeting between the player and newly-appointed director of cricket Andrew Strauss.

However, BBC Sport claims that, at that meeting on Monday evening, Pietersen was told that he would never play for England again.

Pietersen was sacked by the England team in February 2014, after the 5-0 Ashes whitewash in Australia.

Strauss will hold his first press conference in his new role on Tuesday afternoon.
