Australia's Mitchell Starc will not bowl again in day-night Test

Australia bowler Mitchell Starc will not bowl again in the first ever day-night Test after fracturing his foot.

Australia's Mitchell Starc will not bowl again in the third Test against New Zealand after fracturing his foot on day one of the first ever day-night Test in Adelaide.

The fast bowler, who was the star man for Australia with figures of 3-24 on day one, injured himself in the delivery stride during the second session.

"It's very disappointing for him," Sky Sports News quotes Starc's teammate Peter Siddle as saying. "He has been on fire and I think he showed that again today, even with a bit of pain, he could get the job done and get those few breakthroughs for us in the middle order.

"We know Starcy - he'll be back. It's a nice little rest for him. It's not a bad thing for him at this time of the year. I think he will be back firing in no time at all.

Starc is available to bat for Australia, who were 54-2 at stumps after bowling New Zealand out for 202, if needed.
