Harvey Horn moves past Devendro Laishram in World Championships

Team GB boxer Harvey Horn overcomes India's Devendro Laishram in his opening bout at the 2015 World Championships in Doha.

Team GB boxer Harvey Horn has beaten India's Devendro Laishram in his opening bout at the 2015 World Championships in Doha.

The draw was tough for the inexperienced Horn, with Laishram, 23, having Olympic experience under his belt and having also won silver at light-flyweight in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

However, Horn showed his class throughout the first-round bout in Qatar, with the youngster ultimately advancing courtesy of a split points decision over his Indian opponent.

Horn, who competed at the European Games in Baku earlier this year, will face Russia's Vasilii Egorov in the last-16 stage on Thursday.
