Mark Cuban accepts blame for technical foul

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban accepts responsibility for the technical foul handed out to assistant coach Monte Mathis on Wednesday night.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has accepted the blame for a technical foul given out during Wednesday night's 107-105 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The technical foul was attributed to Dallas assistant coach Monte Mathis in the third quarter, but he has a vocal cord problem that physically prevents him from shouting.

Mathis reacted with astonishment at the time of the technical foul and appeared to plead with the official that he didn't say anything.

"They had to give it to Monte because they're not allowed to give it to me. So then [referee Nick Buchert] went up and apologised to Monte afterward," Cuban told the media.

"All I said was, 'You've got to make that call'. No cursing. Didn't curse the whole game. Quiet, relatively speaking, the whole game."

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle revealed to reporters that he hoped the technical foul on Mathis would be rescinded.
