Fred Hoiberg: 'Derrick Rose could be back this week'

Derrick Rose could return from an orbital fracture before the end of the week, according to Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg.

Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg has revealed that he is hopeful that Derrick Rose will return to practice before the end of the week.

The Bulls were dealt a blow in their preparations for the new NBA season when Rose suffered an orbital fracture in the first session of camp, but the point guard was present as the team continued their practice schedule on Monday.

Rose has not yet been given the all-clear by the medical staff, but Hoiberg is happy with the progress being made by the former MVP.

"Derrick's in the building," Hoiberg told reporters. "It was great to see him today. We'll get with him and watch some individual film after practice. [He] still isn't able to do anything as far as courtwork. Hopefully he'll get the clearance here in the next couple of days, at least get a sweat going and getting a little bit of running.

"He's still got a little blurred vision in that eye. It's still very swollen. But he's definitely making progress from what I saw [a week ago]."

The Bulls meet the New Orleans Pelicans in a pre-season game on Monday night.
